Introduction and the aims of the course
Welcome to the enlightening course, “MED2IaH – Global Skills Development in a Local Context,” where we embark on a transformative journey to empower individuals with the essential skills needed to thrive in our interconnected and diverse world. In an era of globalization and cultural exchange, this course offers a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between global competence and local contexts.
Our first aim is to unravel the success story of the University of Montpellier in its journey towards internationalization. We’ll explore how prestigious awards and national excellence initiatives have propelled the development of global skills among the staff. By understanding these strategies, participants will gain insights into fostering global competencies within their own institutions.
Our second objective is to delve into the realm of cross-cultural understanding and communication within a multicultural classroom. Through experiential learning, we’ll explore the nuances of building trust and effective communication in diverse settings, preparing participants to navigate the complexities of global interactions.
Our third aim is to adopt a Human Resources Development perspective to enhance global skill development. Participants will acquire practical strategies and tools for aligning HR practices with global competence development, fostering a culturally adept and globally competent workforce.
Our fourth objective is to equip educators with the skills to develop global citizenry among local students using authentic cultural material. By incorporating culturally relevant content, participants will learn how to engage learners meaningfully, nurturing their understanding of global issues while rooted in their local contexts.
Our fifth aim is to explore the seamless integration of global employability skills within local contexts. Participants will gain insights into how to align local workforce needs with global skill sets, preparing graduates to excel in today’s global job market.
Our final objective is to empower educators with the knowledge and tools to design curriculum architecture that nurtures 21st-century competencies. This forward-looking approach ensures that learners are equipped with the skills demanded by the evolving global landscape.
