MED2IaH – Storytelling as a didactical approach


The aim of the course is to support students in developing stories and using the stories as a learning opportunity.

In the course, the storytelling didactical approach is explained and supported by practical information and materials that might help.

In the first lesson:

  • storytelling is conceptualised, and the role of social and cultural activity in sharing stories is identified,
  • a brief history of visual, oral, written and digital storytelling is given,
  • storytelling as an essential form of communication and universal skill is presented.

In the second lesson:

  • the ways of using digital storytelling is explained,
  • digital storytelling is conceptualised as an effective learning tool for teachers.

In the third lesson:

  • main characteristics of digital stories are presented
  • didactic tips on how to prepare good digital stories are given

In the fourth lesson:

  • students manual that may help students to produce the storytelling videos are available in three languages (English, French and Arabic)
