After completion of this lesson, learners will:

  • understand the basics of the legal framework of Social Entrepreneurship in the countries analyzed, Germany, Italy, Romania and Slovenia.
  • be able to define social entrepreneurship from a legal point of view and put the legal definition into context within broader economic and social concepts of SE.
  • Identify different legal forms of Social Enterprises in the different countries.
  • recognize various legal forms of social enterprises such as cooperatives, social cooperatives, entrepreneurial social innovations, and hybrid organizations, and be able to identify key differences.
  • able to evaluate different legal forms of Social Enterprises.
  • be able to choose the legal form of SE that suits them most, assisted by a legal counsel.
  • apply knowledge to real-world scenarios.
  • be encouraged to apply the legal knowledge gained of social entrepreneurship when setting up their own social enterprise, considering that it is advisable to get professional legal assistance at least in the initial stages of founding their social organizations.
