Overview of the Module
General Aim of the Module
This module aims to develop students’ leadership, management, and project management skills specifically tailored for social enterprises. It focuses on balancing social impact with financial sustainability, emphasising adaptive, mission-driven, and collaborative leadership as well as effective team and resource management. By integrating theoretical knowledge with practical applications, the module prepares students to navigate social enterprises’ unique challenges, fostering innovation and resilience in addressing societal issues.
Module Specific Objectives
- Equip students with the ability to lead social enterprises through adaptive, mission-driven, and collaborative leadership styles, ensuring they can inspire teams and stakeholders while balancing business and social goals.
- Teach students effective management techniques for social enterprises, including promoting an inclusive culture, aligning team efforts with company goals, and fostering well-being and progress within the organisation.
- Provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary for managing projects within social enterprises, focusing on human aspects, clear objective setting, efficient resource use, and responsiveness to feedback and changes.
- Train students to maximise social impact under budget constraints by effectively managing financial, human, and physical resources and ensuring sustainability and efficiency in their operations.
- Prepare students to build and manage cross-sector relationships, enhancing their negotiation and coalition-building abilities to foster collaboration between social enterprises and other sectors.
