Introduction to the course
This course was developed within an Erasmus+ KA2 project titled The System of Support for academic teachers in the Process of Shaping their Students’ Soft Skills. More information about the project is available HERE.
The project aims to develop 4 courses targeting higher education teachers as guidance for embedding soft-skills teaching into regular courses and curricula of higher education institutions.
This course is focused on the skills of creativity, innovation, critical thinking, and teamwork. It is organized into 5 modules together, bringing 75 hours of learning workload. The learning methods are based on a mix of self-study, discussions in forums, face-to-face lectures, workshops, and online learning.
About the contents
This thorough course is divided into five parts, each focusing on teaching approaches for developing a vital skill set for today’s primary school students. The curriculum focuses on soft skills, which are essential in today’s labour economy and educational setting. Each session is designed to provide a deep understanding of numerous critical abilities and their importance.
Module 1: Teaching Soft Skills. This session takes us to discover the world of soft talents. We begin by identifying and emphasising the significance of soft skills in the labour market and education, particularly in light of the COVID-19 epidemic. We discover successful approaches for teaching soft skills using study findings from project countries. Additionally, examples are provided to see soft skills education in action.
Module 2: Teaching Creativity. This subject focuses on creativity, delving into its definitions and unquestionable importance for today’s graduates. You will learn about teaching creative thinking within an educational framework. This programme not only elucidates the concept of creativity but also provides skills to develop creative thinking in yourself and others through various practical techniques.
Module 3: Teaching Innovation. In today’s world, innovation is a driving force, and this programme focuses on understanding its definitions and significance in shaping graduates’ journeys. You will investigate how to incorporate innovation into normal higher education classes effectively. Thanks to practical examples and interactive content, you will be armed with the knowledge and tactics to support innovation in educational contexts.
Module 4: Teaching Critical Thinking. Critical thinking is essential for making sound decisions and addressing problems. In this subject, we explore the definitions of critical thinking and its crucial necessity for today’s graduates. You will investigate techniques for teaching critical thinking in a classroom setting. Using several strategies, you will better understand critical thinking processes and improve students’ analytical skills.
Module 5: Teaching Teamwork. Teamwork is necessary for collaborative workplaces, and this programme focuses on its definitions and the implications for graduates’ employment. You will investigate successful methods for teaching and promoting collaboration in educational contexts. Engaging content and practical examples will prepare you to succeed in team-based settings.
